Isuzu Commercial Vehicle Sales On Pace With '99 Record Performance

5 May 2000

CERRITOS, Calif. - American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) today announced April
commercial vehicle retail sales numbers of 1722 trucks helping keep Isuzu's
commercial vehicle division's year-to-date retail sales figures on the same
record pace as 1999's banner year-to-date numbers.

The successful April retail sales figures were headlined by the
Class-5 FRR. Continuing to build its reputation among business operators, the
FRR counted 114 sales in April nearly tripling last April's retail sales
figures. AIMI's other Class-5 offering, the NQR also had an impressive month
with 292 trucks sold, pushing the NQR to a full 24 % increase over 1999's
year-to-date numbers. The NPR continued as the mainstay of the AIMI
commercial vehicle lineup with combined sales of the diesel and gas powered
models totaling 1177 units.

"The new year has been extremely successful for our commercial vehicle
division. Coming off our best first quarter performance in the company's
history we are looking forward to continued success and the strong April
retail sales numbers are very encouraging. We attribute this continuing
success of the commercial vehicle division to the sustained contributions of
our dealer network. This cohesive relationship between Isuzu, our dealers and
customers is a vital aspect that we feel contributes to our continued success
in no uncertain terms," said Jim Underwood, Senior Vice President, COO,
Commercial Vehicle.

Isuzu commercial vehicles are distributed through a network of
205 commercial vehicle dealers across the U.S. Isuzu trucks have been the
number one low cab forward trucks in the U.S. for 15 consecutive years. Over
225,000 Isuzu-designed Class 3-7 vehicles have been sold in the U.S. since
1984.
