Dana Corporation Opens New Heavy Truck Technology Center

7 May 2000

Facility Will House Advanced Engineering, Research and Development Activities for Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Division

TOLEDO, Ohio - Dana Corporation officially opened the doors of its
state-of-the-art technology center on Friday for heavy-truck systems research
and development in Kalamazoo, Mich. An open house and dedication ceremony will
be held to introduce the facility to the Kalamazoo community.

Dana's Heavy Truck Technology Center is the worldwide office and research
and development facility for Dana's Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Division,
which supplies a complete line of axle and brake components for heavy- and
medium-duty commercial trucks and buses. The new technology center will afford
Dana a center for advanced research and development of these heavy-truck
products.

Dana Chairman and CEO Joe Magliochetti said, "Dana is committed to the
development of those new technologies and products that go beyond today's
demands, and create future value for our customers and our shareholders. This
new technology center enables us to collaborate more effectively and leverage
the knowledge, skills and abilities of the most innovative thought leaders in
the heavy truck sector."

Rick Clayton, president of Dana's Heavy Truck Group, said, "Spicer's
reputation for quality in the global marketplace has set the standard in the
industry. Dana is dedicated to continually improving our products, systems,
and relationships with our customers."

"The Heavy Truck Technology Center plays a key role in maintaining Dana's
leadership position in the global heavy axle market. It is another example of
Dana's commitment to new technology and development, as well as a statement of
our confidence in the growth opportunities within the Heavy Truck market," he
added.

The 154,000 square-foot Technology Center is located on 28 acres in The
Groves, an education, business, and technology park. With more than 75,000
square feet dedicated to research and development testing, the center will
enable Dana to continue providing the superior systems and products to lead
the industry.

Dana worked in cooperation with Kalamazoo Valley Community College, the
City of Kalamazoo, and the State of Michigan to bring the new Heavy Truck
Technology Center to the area.

The Dana Heavy Truck Group engineers and produces strategic components,
modules, and systems for the world's on-highway medium- and heavy-truck
