GNB Technologies Launches the Champion Performance Series SpiralCell Technology Battery

    ATLANTA--May 4, 2000--GNB Technologies is expanding the reach of its technology agreement with Optima Batteries by introducing Optima's patented SpiralCell(R) Technology into the Champion(R) Performance Series(TM) product line. The Champion Performance Series SpiralCell battery merges superior Optima technology with the premium Champion Performance Series brand.
    GNB will make the Champion Performance Series SpiralCell battery available to business customers such as jobbers, small distributors and service stations through the network of GNB Field Sales Operations throughout the country.
    "Now, for the first time, this powerful combination of superior technology and premium brand is available to the traditional aftermarket channel of distribution," said Peter Quinlan, Director of Marketing for GNB Technologies Field Sales Operations.
    The Champion Performance Series SpiralCell battery is a unique, technologically advanced battery based on the patented Optima SpiralCell Technology. The SpiralCell configuration is a sealed, valve-regulated design with a positive plate, negative plate and a separator wound in a tight spiral to create each cell. The configuration produces a battery with superior electrical performance, exceptional shock and vibration resistance, and up to three times the service life of a conventional automotive battery.
    "Because the SpiralCell technology is so advanced, we designed the exterior of the battery to be equally distinctive. This battery, with the gold case and black top, clearly stands in a class of its own," said Mr. Quinlan.
    "The SpiralCell technology added to our Champion Performance Series product line gives our customers a premium offering to help them stand apart from their competition," Mr. Quinlan added.
    Available in two different group sizes, 35/75, (20 CCA, 950 CA) and 34/78 (830 CCA, 1050 CA) the Champion Performance Series SpiralCell battery fits more than 65 percent of the vehicles on the road today. Both group sizes carry a 36-month free replacement and an 84-month pro rata warranty. Both also come with a free 24-month roadside assistance package.
    Industry-standard testing shows the Champion Performance Series SpiralCell battery to have higher cranking amps, extraordinary shock and vibration resistance and significantly longer service life in a smaller physical package than conventional automotive batteries. As a result, the Champion Performance Series SpiralCell battery is especially well suited for rough duty applications -- sport utility vehicles, trucks, farm and construction equipment, and traditional high-performance automotive applications. With this product, GNB's commercial customers have an extremely high performance, American-made battery for a number of specialty market segments, including off-road SUV; 4x4; heavy duty and commercial fleets; police, fire and emergency vehicles. These batteries are manufactured in Optima's state-of-the-art facility in Denver, Colorado exclusively for GNB.
