CFI Names New President

    JOPLIN, Mo.--May 4, 2000--The board of directors of CFI, a privately-held international truckload carrier based in Joplin, Missouri, is pleased to announce that Herbert J. Schmidt has been appointed President, effective May 1, 2000.
    Mr. Schmidt most recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing. He joined the company in 1984 and has served as Vice President of Safety, Vice President of Administration and Senior Vice President Operations. Prior to CFI, Mr. Schmidt worked with United Parcel Service in operations and industrial engineering. He graduated summa cum laude from Missouri Southern State College in 1977.
    Commenting on the new appointment, Glenn F. Brown, Chairman and CEO, said, "Schmidt has the extensive experience and excellent track record to assume a more significant role.     CFI, founded in 1951, operates over 2000 tractors and over 6000 trailers and transports a variety of goods throughout the contiguous United States and Canada.
