    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 4 Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA)
today announced the appointment of Mark Ritz to Vice President - Marketing and
Business Development for the Lear Electronics and Electrical Division (LEED).
Ritz reports to LEED President D. William Pumphrey.

    In his new position, Ritz is responsible for the strategic development of
LEED's business and marketing plans, which includes identifying new business
ventures, alliances and acquisitions.  He is based at the LEED facilities in
Dearborn, Mich.
    Ritz joined Lear in 1999 as Director - Marketing and Business Development
from United Technologies Automotive.  His more than 25 years of management
experience in the automotive industry include 12 years at Ford Motor Company
in product planning, and eight years at Bendix Electronics, which was
subsequently acquired by Siemens Automotive.
    Ritz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Purdue
University in West Lafayette, Ind., a Masters of Science degree in Engineering
from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a Masters in Business
Administration degree from Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Mass.  He and
his wife, Lee Gorman, reside in Ann Arbor.
