AutoMall Online Names Three Industry Leaders to Board of Directors

3 May 2000

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Company President Gene Hickman announced the appointment
of three auto industry leaders to the Board of Directors of AutoMall Online.
The new Board members are: Larry Dorfmann, David Kay, and Jonathan Cherner.

"The addition of such industry veterans to our Board of Directors greatly
enhances AutoMall Online's ability to provide the definitive e-commerce
solution among online car-buying services," said Hickman.

Larry Dorfmann is President and CEO of the Automobile Protection
Corporation (APCO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company. APCO
was founded by Dorfmann in 1984, became a public company in 1988, and was
purchased by Ford in 1999 for $180 million. APCO's core business is the
marketing and administering of the EasyCare Pre-Owned Vehicle Merchandising
Program and EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts that are sold primarily through
car and truck dealerships. APCO also administers warranty and service contract
products under private labels, and has been a strategic partner of AutoMall
Online since its inception.

David Kay is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Capital
Automotive, a self-managed, publicly-traded real estate investment trust that
owns nearly $1 billion of land and improvements used by auto dealers
throughout the United States as an alternate source of capital. Kay was
instrumental in Capital Automotive's formation in 1997, as well as its 1998
IPO that raised $370 million. Prior to joining Capital Automotive, Kay was
employed by the public accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP in Washington,
D.C. for ten years, where he advised clients in the automotive, retail, and
distribution industries.

Jonathan Cherner is currently Co-President of the Cherner Automotive Group
and chairs the Dealer Advisory Group of Capital Automotive REIT. Cherner is
also on the Board of Directors of the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers
Association and the Lincoln-Mercury Dealers Association. The Cherner
Automotive Group first opened in 1926 as a Ford dealership in Washington,
D.C., and subsequently added Lincoln-Mercury, Isuzu and Kia franchises. In the
late 1980s, Cherner worked in the Real Estate Group of Morgan Stanley, Inc.
