American Standard Vice President of Tax to Retire Nick Anthony Appointed SuccessorPISCATAWAY, N.J., May 3 American Standard Companies Inc. (NYSE: ASD) today announced that Robert Wellbrock, Vice President of Tax, is retiring effective June 30, 2000. Succeeding Mr. Wellbrock is Nick Anthony, 52, who served most recently as Chief Tax Officer for CK Witco Corporation, a Fortune 500 multinational firm, where he oversaw the merger of its tax department with that of Crompton and Knowles. Mr. Anthony will join American Standard on May 15, and will work with Mr. Wellbrock to insure an orderly transition. Commenting on the changes, G. Peter D'Aloia, American Standard's Chief Financial Officer, said, "Bob Wellbrock was an instrumental member of the leadership team that guided American Standard through its leveraged buyout and re-emergence as a publicly traded company. We appreciate his many contributions, and we are confident that Nick Anthony will build on his strong leadership." Prior to joining CK Witco, Mr. Anthony spent six years with the General Motors Corporation as Assistant General Tax Counsel. Mr. Anthony was also Senior Tax Counsel for Exxon Corporation and an associate attorney with New York-based law firm Dewey Ballantine early in his career. Mr. Anthony is a graduate of Boston College. He received an MBA in finance from Babson College in Massachusetts. He was awarded a Juris Doctorate from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and a Master of Laws degree from New York University.
