Frees Future Cash Flow for Growth Initiatives to Enhance Shareholder Value

TROY, Mich., May 2 Delphi Automotive Systems Corporation
(NYSE: DPH) today announced a $550 million voluntary cash contribution to its
U.S. hourly pension fund, bringing Delphi's pension plans overall to a fully

contributions to the U.S. hourly pension fund since Delphi separated from
General Motors Corporation on May 28, 1999 total $2.35 billion.
"Delphi's strong cash flows in 1999 and the first four months of 2000
allowed us to accomplish our pension funding objectives 1.5 years ahead of
schedule," said Delphi Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President J.T.

our employees and investors by ensuring we have sufficient assets to cover our
pension obligations," said Battenberg.
"For employees and their families, the completion of this funding
initiative sends an important signal that as a Delphi employee, their
