Delphi's Pension Plans Fully FundedContributions Since Independence Total $2.35 Billion Frees Future Cash Flow for Growth Initiatives to Enhance Shareholder Value TROY, Mich., May 2 Delphi Automotive Systems Corporation (NYSE: DPH) today announced a $550 million voluntary cash contribution to its U.S. hourly pension fund, bringing Delphi's pension plans overall to a fully funded status and completing its pension funding initiative. Voluntary cash contributions to the U.S. hourly pension fund since Delphi separated from General Motors Corporation on May 28, 1999 total $2.35 billion. "Delphi's strong cash flows in 1999 and the first four months of 2000 allowed us to accomplish our pension funding objectives 1.5 years ahead of schedule," said Delphi Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President J.T. Battenberg III. "Today's contribution completes our financial commitment to our employees and investors by ensuring we have sufficient assets to cover our pension obligations," said Battenberg. "For employees and their families, the completion of this funding initiative sends an important signal that as a Delphi employee, their retirement is secure," said Battenberg.
