Simpson Industries Reports Results of Proxy Contest
PLYMOUTH, Mich., May 2 Simpson Industries, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SMPS) today announced that the independent inspector's preliminary
report of votes cast at the Company's Annual Meeting on April 19 confirmed
that shareholders had voted to support management by electing all management
nominees to the Board of Directors and rejecting the proposal of MMI
Investments by a wide margin. Although the votes were tabulated by a
respected independent firm, MMI Investments has challenged the results. It is
anticipated that a final report will be available within a week.
Simpson Industries supplies powertrain and chassis products to original
equipment manufacturers in the worldwide automotive and medium and heavy duty
diesel engine markets. Simpson's products are focused in three groups:
noise, vibration and harshness, wheel-end and suspension, and modular engine
assemblies. Simpson's manufacturing units are located in the United States,
Canada, Mexico, Brazil, England, India, France, Spain and South Korea.
