Audi Continues Record 2000 With Best April Sales Ever

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 2 Audi of America's record
setting pace in 2000 continues in April with a total of 7,725 sales for the
month, a 38.1 percent increase over April 1999 when sales were 5,592.  These
sales results amount to the best April sales month ever.  Audi year-to-date
sales of 25,508 are up 55.5 percent over last years sales of 17,051 units.
    Audi's hot-selling TT posted major monthly sales gains with the
introduction of the new 2001 Roadster and 225-horsepower Coupe.  April sales
totaled 1,331 units.
    Audi's all aluminum flagship A8 was up 29.3 percent with a total of 234
sales.  In April, the new A8 L accounted for 57.3 percent of all A8 sales.
    Double-digit growth was seen from the A6 with 2, 968 sales, up 15.0
percent over the same month last year when sales totaled 2,580.  The Audi A4
continues its strong sales with 3,192 for the month, up 13.1 percent.
