AMA: $300,000 Rider point fund announced for 2000 Motocross season

     PICKERINGTON, Ohio --  The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and

the National Promoters Group (NPG) is pleased to announce the designation

of a $300,000.00 Rider Point Fund for the 2000 AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S

Motocross Championships. The 2000 national series will mark the third

annual presentation of the NPG Rider Point Fund. The AMA/NPG fund will pay

$150,000 to the top-20 250cc class finalists, and $150,000 to the top-20

125cc class finalists.


     This year's CHEVY TRUCKS series will be Presented by DUNLOP RADIAL

ROVER LIGHT TRUCK TIRES, and will feature the sponsorship efforts of THQ's

"Championship Motocross" video game; JAKKS PACIFIC Toys; THOR; PARTS

UNLIMITED; FMF; DUNLOP Tires; MOTO-TEE's; PRO-X Pistons; BALLZEE Casual

Wear; KLOTZ Oils and Fuels; SCOTT Goggles and Sunglasses; BOSCH Power

Tools; GATORADE Sport Drinks; PRO ACTION Suspension; CTi; 909 Handlebars;

Boyesen/Twin-Air; Alpinestars; Thor Helmets; SBS Brakes; Acerbis; Factory

Effects; NGK; and Sunstar. The fund will be generated through the

sponsorship involvement of these prestigious motocross-oriented companies.



     It is the goal of the NPG to provide the best possible racing

conditions for motocross competittion, not only for the professional

racers, but for the grass-roots amateurs and the fans who attend both. The

NPG combines professional staff, race-ready facilities, and a hard work

ethic to endeavor to bring you the best motocross racing in the world. The

NPG consists of the 12 individual producers of the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S.

Motocross Championships.In addition to the rider point funds and season-end

bonuses, in 2000, AMA Pro Racing and the NPG will pay $360,000 in race

purse money to riders of the Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships, and

$3,267,290 is available to riders through AMA Pro Racing industry bonus

award postings. Companies particing in this year's program include American

Helmets, Bridgestone Tire Corp., Cycle Logic Products Inc., Dunlop Tire

Corp., Fox Racing, Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA, Maxxis, Michelin Tire Corp.,

MSR, Oakley Inc., One Industries, Pirelli Motorcycle Tire N.A., Renthal

America, Scandanavian Brake Systems, Scott USA, Shoei Safety Helmet Corp.,

Smith Sport Optics, VP Racing Fuels,  Wiseco Piston, and Yamaha Motor

Corp., USA.
