Ohtsu Tire Company Selects MSC.Software to Automate Tire Development Process; Investment Part of a Long Term Growth Strategy

LOS ANGELES/COSTA MESA, Calif.--May 2, 2000-- MSC.Software Corporation (MSC; NYSE:MNS), the world's leading developer of simulation software, and Ohtsu Tire Company, one of the World's top ten tire companies, today announced the signing of an agreement to work together in a project that will automate key parts of the tire development process. The project is part of Ohtsu Tire's drive to increase market share through a constant focus on product performance and quality while increasing "market agility."
The Ohtsu Tire Company has been working with MSC.Software since 1997; initial simulation work resulted in the elimination of over 200 physical tests per month in addition to saving approximately 10% of tire development cycle time. This new project will further streamline the simulation processes, which will have a dramatic increase in market competitiveness.
"This important consulting engagement, which includes both professional consulting services and software products, is another excellent example of how any manufacturing company in the world can use MSC.Software technology to directly and positively impact their profitability," said Frank Perna Jr., Chairman and CEO of MSC.Software. "Using our experts for the integration of proprietary customer tire design technology with state-of-the-art simulation tools, will ensure the accomplishment of their primary business goal: deliver quickly and profitably the best possible tires to their customers."
MSC.Software will host their second Worldwide Automotive Conference, October 9-11, 2000 in Dearborn, Michigan. Following the theme "The Future of Simulation in the Automotive Environment," this conference provides attendees with a strategic opportunity to hear from industry leaders and learn how simulation will positively impact their own company's business.
