I-Sim Driving Simulators at Fresno Police Department

2 May 2000

I-Sim Driving Simulators at Fresno Police Department Certified By California's Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training
SALT LAKE CITY, May 1 I-Sim Corporation, a leading
developer and manufacturer of driving simulation equipment, today announced
its four PatrolSim(TM) driving simulators at the Fresno Police Department have
received final certification by a California commission.
The California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)
gave approval to I-Sim after a rigorous series of tests. The certification
establishes a product milestone as the first time I-Sim has passed the
criteria established by POST.
According to POST, more than 70,000 full-time peace officers, 10,000
reserves and 4,000 public safety dispatchers use its certification and
training programs developed to establish professional standards and
top-quality training to ensure public safety and the safety of law enforcement
officers.
"We are thrilled with the certification of our Fresno simulators," said
Reg Welles, president of I-Sim. "We feel the POST decision confirms the
quality and effectiveness of our driving simulators."
An extensive evaluation by POST personnel requires approval in three
categories -- hardware, scenarios, and operational functionality of the system
-- before certifying a driving simulator. I-Sim's PatrolSim(TM) simulators
passed the POST hardware inspection before they were shipped from the company.
In order for simulators to pass the scenarios inspection, POST requires the
approval of 61 driving scenarios by the POST Driving Simulator Scenario
Evaluation Team. Finally, POST tests the operational functionality of the
system to ensure that everything is working properly.
"Fresno's final certification by POST will help us move forward with the
testing at our other locations," Welles said. "The San Diego and West Covina
Police Departments have both passed their scenario tests, and we hope to have
their final certification completed by the end of May."
