Up 21.4 Percent in U.S. SalesROCKLEIGH, N.J. - Volvo Cars of North America, Inc. celebrates its second best percentage increase over 1999. At 10,529 unit sales, April saw VCNA up 19.1 percent compared with the same period last year, when 8,838 units were sold. U.S. sales alone were up 21.4 percent at 9,605 units sold compared with 7,914 in April 1999. "We're on track to achieve our 2000 retail sales target of 145,000 units," declares Hans-Olov Olsson, VCNA President and CEO. "Our retail partners and the entire VCNA organization is committed to that goal, and we are confident we will reach or exceed it." Sales start of the all-new V70 kicked off April 1 with over 500 early retail sales. Production of the 2000 S70 and V70 stops in mid-May; port inventory numbers reflect the stock brought in to cover the remainder of their sales period.
