SatCon Subsidiary Ling Electronics to Introduce New Prototype 'MagLev' Shaker Product
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--May 1, 2000--Multi-Axis Vibration Test System at ESTECH 2000
SatCon Technology Corporation(R) (Nasdaq NM:SATC), a leader in power and energy management products, today announced that its subsidiary, Ling Electronics in Anaheim California, will introduce a new multi axis shaker system for vibration testing at the ESTECH 2000 exposition. ESTECH 2000 is the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology 46th Annual Technical Meeting and Exposition which is being held at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence from May 2nd to May 3rd. The MagLev(TM) shaker test system is designed for small multi-axis shaker applications such as vibration tests on hard disk drives, CD drives, wireless telecommunications equipment, circuit boards, and assembled components.
"This multi-axis, 6 degree-of-freedom shaker test system has the ability to simulate real-world conditions and will increase a manufacturer's efficiency by replacing multiple test systems with a single cost-effective platform," said David Eisenhaure, SatCon President and Chief Executive Officer. "The MagLev(TM) system will be available for shipment later this year and is targeted for sale to hi-tech companies in need of highly versatile low-cost, low-force shaker systems. We think our product introduction is very timely as Original Equipment Manufacturers are beginning to require component level testing by second and third tier suppliers. There is an increasing need for shaker test systems to meet these growing requirements. We also believe that Ling Electronics is the only vibration test equipment manufacturer that can offer this type of system."
"The MagLev(TM) system was developed at the Technology Center and is just one example of the technology transfer that SatCon is bringing to Ling Electronics," concluded Eisenhaure. "In addition to the MagLev(TM) system, SatCon is working with Ling to introduce several other new shaker systems and to bring advanced technological enhancements to Ling's existing line of shaker systems."
