97th AAA Annual Meeting Set for May in Boston

    BOSTON--April 28, 2000--Nearly 1,000 delegates and auto club executives will gather at the Boston Marriott Copley Place May 8-9 for AAA's 97th Annual Meeting.
    Delegates representing AAA's 85 affiliated clubs in the United States and Canada will elect officers, discuss and vote on policy issues and hear presentations on business and technology trends.
    Keynote speaker for the two-day event will be Paul Pressler, president of Walt Disney Attractions, who will discuss competing in today's dynamic business environment and the impact of technology in the future of vacationing.
    Other speakers include political satirist and comedian Mark Russell; Dr. James Canton, president of the Institute for Global Futures and one of the nation's leading futurists; and Dr. Charles Adams, a noted Detroit Baptist minister who has taught theological courses at a number of universities and seminars, including Boston University.
    Mayor Thomas Menino will welcome delegates and Cardinal Bernard Law, Archdiocese of Boston, will deliver the invocation.
    Judy Woodruff, CNN-TV anchor and senior correspondent, will lead off the AAA public policy session, which will focus on transportation and travel issues.
    As North America's largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides its 43 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax-paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
