New Algor Superview Release Provides Comprehensive and Efficient Postprocessing
PITTSBURGH--April 28, 2000--Algor, Inc., a leading maker of software for mechanical engineers, today announced the release of Superview 13, a complete FEA postprocessing and presentation package that allows engineers to quickly evaluate and present the results of an analysis. With dynamic viewing capabilities, floating toolbars and the ability to work from the same interface regardless of the analysis type, Superview 13 speeds up the postprocessing experience so that engineers can quickly and easily determine whether they need to alter their design and rerun an analysis or if they are ready to take advantage of Algor's built-in presentation tools to document the details of their final design.
"Now Algor users can further reduce time-to-market when they test products on the computer and review results using Superview 13," said Michael Bussler, president of the Pittsburgh-based Algor. "By streamlining Superview, users have an even more comprehensive tool to evaluate their design and report their findings."
Superview 13 builds on the technology Algor introduced with the spring 1999 Release 12 version of its software. That release brought all FEA functions, from modeling and finite element mesh generation to post-analysis processing, into a single, Windows-based user interface. That interface, which allows engineers to input critical model data in database format, can be used for a wide array of FEA, from linear static stress or Mechanical Event Simulation to transient heat transfer, fluid flow or vibration analyses.
Superview 13's dynamic viewing options provide engineers with the ability to rotate, zoom and pan to examine models after they have been subjected to the applied physical phenomena. Users can look at models with Superview 13 before and after analysis, and can display analysis results when examining models or turn off different results to easily verify all loads, constraints and analysis results.
As part of a continuing commitment to provide the most thorough and easy-to-use postprocessor in the market, Superview 13 contains pull-down menus consisting of easy-to-read commands, floating toolbars with shortcuts to commonly used functions and an HTML, context-sensitive "Help" function. By utilizing HTML, Superview 13 provides right-click access to multimedia assistance, including analysis replays and vivid graphics for any postprocessing command.
With these additions, Superview expands upon Algor's comprehensive interface and precision finite element modeling tools. Throughout the pre- and postprocessing stages and across Algor's full range of analysis capabilities, engineers will find common commands in the same place.
Also integrated in Superview 13 is Algor's "Monitor" function, which plots graphs of a model's time-varying behavior as an analysis unfolds.
With direct access to the HTML Report Wizard and numerous presentation tools, Algor offers the most comprehensive, easy-to-use FEA modeling system, thus enabling quick turnaround from initial design to the market.
Algor customers with current technical support and maintenance agreements can request a complete software update, including Superview 13, through Algor's Web sites (www.algor.com or www.feaincad.com) or an Algor account representative. Superview 13 works with Windows NT/95/98/2000.
Algor has been a leader in the engineering software industry since introducing FEA for PCs in 1984 and interfacing with CAD systems in 1985. The company provides innovative, affordable and easy-to-use software products that have enabled 20,000 engineers in 60 countries to create safe, efficient, cost-effective designs. Algor also offers superior educational support and customer service that includes the use of state-of-the-art Internet audio/video technology for "Web Courses," which provide step-by-step software instruction, and free public "Webcasts" in live demonstration format.
Algor's product line features FEA-based Accupak/VE Mechanical Event Simulation software. Accupak/VE reduces the need for physical prototyping and eliminates the need to input dynamic loads by determining the motion, flexing and resulting stresses of a part or assembly at each instant of an event. Algor's proprietary kinematic element technology makes performing Mechanical Event Simulations using CAD solid parts and assemblies practical for realistic, accurate results. Engineers can use Algor's InCADPlus and InCAD DesignPak products to seamlessly capture exact CAD geometry from popular CAD systems within Algor. The company also offers linear stress, vibration, heat transfer, electrostatic, fluid flow, composite materials and piping systems analysis tools. Algor's software interchanges data with products from ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq:ANSS), Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), CADKEY Corporation, MSC.Software Corporation (NYSE:MNS), Parametric Technology Corporation (Nasdaq:PMTC), Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (Nasdaq:SDRC), Unigraphics Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:UGS), SolidWorks Corporation, a Dassault Systemes S.A. (Nasdaq:DASTY) company, and others.
