Sesame Street, Safefit and The Right Start to Sponsor Sweepstakes

28 April 2000

Sesame Street(R), Safefit(R) and The Right Start(R) Join Forces to Sponsor 'Buckle Up, America!' Sweepstakes
Sesamestreet.com Offers Safety Content for Families Throughout May,
as Part of "Buckle Up, America!" Week

NEW YORK, April 28 Sesame Street's Big Bird(TM) and
Elmo(TM) are joining forces with SafeFit(R), manufacturers of child automotive
safety products, and The Right Start, the largest national specialty retailer
of juvenile products for infants and children since 1985, to sponsor "Buckle
Up, America!" Sweepstakes, during the month of May.
In honor of "Buckle Up, America!" Week, May 22 - 29, the three companies
are helping encourage families to buckle up by running a national sweepstakes.
To register for the "Buckle Up, America!" Sweepstakes log on to any of the
three web-sites http://www.sesamestreet.com, http://www.safefit.com and
http://www.rightstart.com or pick up an entry form at your local Right Start
store. The Right Start stores will also be celebrating throughout the month
by featuring the Sesame Street(R)/SafeFit(R) Car Safety Station, plus
Sweepstakes Counter cards, Windows signs, and Bag stuffers which educate
parents on proper seatbelt safety in all stores. Sesame Street Parents
Magazine(R) is participating by running an information ad about the
sweepstakes. In addition, sesamestreet.com is helping to get the word out on
how essential child safety-seats are with automotive safety content and
activities for children.
During the month of May, sesamestreet.com has created a family-friendly
content area stressing the importance of child safety in the car. Parents and
preschoolers can print out coloring pages featuring Elmo(TM), Zoe(TM), and
other Sesame Street(R) friends traveling safely; read interactive stories such
as "Buckle up Teddy"; play online games including "Elmo's Road Trip;" and get
tips from "Getting There Safely."
Sesamestreet.com offers the following child safety seat tips to make sure
that its fans, big and small, are safe and "Buckled Up" when in the car:

-- Never put a car seat in the front seat because of the danger of
       passenger-side air bags.

-- Never allow a child to sit on your lap, even if you are wearing a
safety belt. The force of a crash can propel a child out of your arms.

-- Enforce the rule: "The car is not a place to play."

-- If your child weighs between 40 and 80 pounds, use a booster seat to
ensure correct positioning of the lap and shoulder belts.

-- Never slip a shoulder belt behind your child's head to get it out of
       her face.

-- When your youngster is old enough to use adult safety belts, be certain
that the fit is snug. Your child should wear both the lap and shoulder
belts, with the lap belt resting on the thighs.

-- Whenever possible, have children remove their thick outerwear before
buckling them into their car seats. To keep children warm, have
       blankets on hand.

    Winners, chosen at random, receive:

-- Grand Prize: 5-day, family vacation for four to Sesame Place(R) in
Philadelphia. Package includes: roundtrip airfare, from anywhere in
the United States, hotel accommodations, minivan rental, meals, $1,000
spending money, entrance into Sesame Place(R), "Breakfast with Big
Bird," and a private meet & greet with Sesame Street(R) characters.
Estimated total prize valued at $7,000.

-- First Prize: 75 entrants will win a Safefit(R) Supreme Seat Belt
       Adjuster.

-- Second Prize: 100 entrants will win a set of Sesame Street(R) Car
       Safety Signs.

-- Third Prize: 10 entrants will win a subscription to Sesame Street
       Magazine(R) and Sesame Street Parents(R).

Prize winners will be announced in June.
