Van Dan Elzen Joins Iteris to Lead Marketing of Autovue Lane Departure Warning System

    ANAHEIM, Calif.--April 27, 2000--Christopher L. Van Dan Elzen has been hired as marketing manager of vehicle sensor products for Iteris Inc., a leading supplier of advanced technology product and system solutions to the intelligent transportation systems market.
    Based in Detroit, Van Dan Elzen will lead the marketing of Iteris's lane recognition safety system, Autovue(TM).
    An expert in lane departure warning, Van Dan Elzen will work closely with automobile manufacturers to successfully meet the stringent requirements dictated by the automotive industry. He will also represent Iteris in the ISO (international standards organization) committees.

    Iteris's Autovue is a lane recognition safety system and alarm device aimed at reducing the more than 16,000 automobile accidents involving lane departures. "The market is ready and eager for a product like Autovue," commented Van Dan Elzen.     Van Dan Elzen joins Iteris from Automotive Distance Control Systems (ADC) where he was manager for North American projects. During his tenure at ADC, Van Dan Elzen was a key team member involved in the industry's first infrared and RADAR versions of adaptive cruise control systems.
    Prior to his position at ADC, Van Dan Elzen served as product engineer for DaimlerChrysler's core electronics group. There he assisted in the development of EATX, the electronic control system used in the majority of DaimlerChrysler's automatic transmissions.
    With departmental honors from Oakland University, Van Dan Elzen received his master and bachelor degree in the areas of science in engineering. His master degree concentrated in artificial intelligence and robotics.
    Van Dan Elzen is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and ITS America. Additionally, he is a U.S. expert delegate to the International Standards Organization.
