TruckNet Appoints New Manager; Drives Forward With Enhanced Online Recruiting
ATLANTA, April 27 The momentum keeps building at TruckNet,
the online driver and owner operator community of iFLEET, Inc., as it expands
its reach and depth of offerings with additions to the management staff,
online recruiting services and a new interface. "We listen to what drivers and
owner operators expect from our Web site," said Craig Zwiener, General Manager
of the TruckNet community. "We're responding. We're adding services and
expanding our information resources to put TruckNet squarely in drivers' minds
as the place to go for information, resources and services."
Mike Smith, the newly appointed Content Manager for http://www.truck.net, will
oversee the site's content direction. Smith, who has extensive Internet and
software experience, combined with a background in the trucking industry, will
be responsible for the creating and maintaining TruckNet's editorial content
and special interest features -- a portion of which will provide community-
generated content. The recently redesigned site receives an average 200,000
hits per day, with approximately 16,000 page views and 8,000 user sessions per
day.
The site's Drivers RoundTable currently provides community-generated
content in an interactive bulletin board used by drivers and their families.
The forum currently has more than 4,300 active subscribers and continues to
grow at a rate of 1,000 subscribers per month. As more drivers begin to use
the Internet for communication and information, they can log onto the Drivers
RoundTable for a variety of valuable information regarding their careers, home
life and issues in the trucking industry.
At the same time, TruckNet is launching TruckNet FleetJobs(SM) , an
enhanced online recruiting service. "We are providing more and better features
that will add value to applicants and fleet recruiters," added Zwiener.
"Drivers, owner/lease operators and diesel technicians will now have the
choice of using our Web site to submit confidential applications to hiring
fleets, or if they don't have Internet access, they can call a toll-free
number, (888) 777-6727, where TruckNet representatives will take their
application over the phone." TruckNet plans to further enhance FleetJobs in
the third quarter, enabling applicants to research job requirements, company
benefits and pay structures.
FleetJobs will also provide enhanced services to recruiters, offering
significantly more functionality to improve the overall hiring process and
help fleets address driver retention more effectively. "We are working closely
with several fleets to ensure the FleetJobs recruiting program tackles the
driver shortage," said David Hoppens, iFLEET's General Manager of the fleet
manager community. "Recruiting and retention managers will need better tools
for carriers to remain cost competitive."
Subscribing recruiters can currently search the secure FleetJobs site at
http://www.ifleet.net to research driver, owner-operator and diesel technician
applications and filter the database by state of residence and record age.
They can then respond to applicants via email. TruckNet plans to add
capabilities that allow recruiters to select applicants by individual profile.
TruckNet will roll out the updated site and new services at the North
American Truck Show in Boston, May 4-6, 2000.
