Oldsmobile Aurora Presents First Ever U.S. Montreux Festival on TourNEW YORK, April 27 The Montreux Jazz Festival, a magnet for phenomenal musicians and spontaneous performances, will visit the United States in its first ever 20-city tour this summer. Presented by the 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora and produced by TBA Entertainment and Rug Music Inc., Montreux Festival on Tour will feature Al Jarreau, Roberta Flack, David Sanborn, Joe Sample and George Duke. The Montreux Festival on Tour will deliver hours of mesmerizing music and true to Montreux Jazz Festival style, spontaneity reigns. The audience will see artists perform together that have never before shared the stage. The totally new 2001 Aurora by Oldsmobile makes the festival's first U.S. appearance possible. "The Montreux music style is sophisticated and is an excellent way to connect with the Aurora target audience, which is also refined and stylish," said Karen Francis, Oldsmobile general manager. "Presenting Montreux Festival on Tour is an ideal way to increase awareness of the 2001 Aurora as a refined, agile, luxury vehicle." Since its introduction in 1994, the Oldsmobile Aurora has been a consistent and long-standing supporter of fine arts. Sponsorships include three years as the Tribute Underwriter for the San Francisco Ballet and the sponsor of the national tour of Sunset Boulevard. Thirty-three Years of History Montreux, Switzerland has hosted the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival for 34 years. Beginning as a small three-day festival, Montreux Jazz Festival has grown to a two-week celebration of music from around the world, ranging from jazz to Latin to rock. Musical legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Sting and Chuck Berry have surprised audiences by playing together -- unannounced -- during the festival's famed jam sessions. The unpredictable nature of the show along with the highly talented musicians has made the festival a staple for music enthusiasts since 1967. "We are thrilled not only to bring the unique and authentic taste of Montreux to the United States," said Brian J. Murphy of TBA Entertainment Corporation. "But also to work with the talented musicians and artists that are featured on the tour." Jazz Obsessed Activities To further feed the obsession of music fans across the country, concertgoers will be invited to explore Montreux's rich art history through the Aurora/Montreux Gallery at each concert venue. Three decades of concert posters will take visitors from the first festival through to this summer's tour. Keith Haring and Andy Warhol were among the well-known artists to design Montreux concert posters and musicians participating in the festival, such as Phil Collins, contributed to the poster designs as well. Bringing Montreux Festival on Tour Home Music fans in cities outside the 20-city tour route will not miss out on the Montreux Festival on Tour. A pay-per-view special, produced by TBA Entertainment Corporation, will be held as part of the Washington, DC concert on August 12. Taped as a live show, the at-home viewers will experience the same, unedited concert as the live audience, complete with the unexpected, unplanned musical collaboration that makes Montreux distinctive. The pay-per-view special will be available via DirecTV, iN DEMAND, TVN and EchoStar. For tickets to one of the 20 concerts scheduled across the country this summer, contact your local TicketMaster or, beginning May 1, visit http://www.montreuxtourusa.com for additional tour information.
