AMETEK Names John Weaver As Vice President - Human Resources

    PAOLI, Pa., April 27 AMETEK Inc. (NYSE: AME) today
announced that the Board of Directors has elected Mr. John Weaver, Vice
President - Human Resources.  Mr. Weaver was previously Director of Human
Resources at AMETEK Aerospace, a position he has held since joining AMETEK in
1994.
    Frank Hermance, AMETEK President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "I am
delighted to announce John's promotion to Vice President  - Human Resources.
John brings over 18 years of human resources experience to his new role with
an emphasis on organizational development and training as well as all of the
skills necessary to lead and develop our human resource efforts."
    Prior to joining AMETEK, John was the Vice President of Human Resources
for Guest Quarters/Doubletree Hotels Corporation.  He holds a B.S. degree from
the University of Massachusetts and has been pursuing his M.S. degree at Clark
University in Worcester, MA.
