Toyota Certified Used Vehicle March Sales Sets Another All-Time Monthly Record

    TORRANCE, Calif., April 26 Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., today reported its best-ever sales month for Toyota Certified
Used Vehicle Sales and posted its 25th consecutive monthly sales record.
    March sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles totaled 13,912, an increase
of 34.6 percent compared to March 1999.  Calendar-year-to-date sales total
37,892, up 50.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
    "Unprecedented market penetration during the first quarter of the calendar
year clearly positioned Toyota as the 'brand leader' in the certified arena,"
said Guillermo Hysaw, TMS corporate manager, used vehicle operations
department.  "Concurrently, we are establishing a new benchmark in the used
vehicle industry, which will make the year 2000 a year to remember for our
participating Toyota dealers.  More importantly, our peak selling months are
just ahead and we are excited about the possibilities."
    The Toyota Used Vehicle process, established in 1996, continues to provide
the best pre-owned warranty in the industry.  The warranty, from date of first
use, includes six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, as well as an
optional comprehensive 100,000-mile vehicle service agreement.  And, 24-hour
roadside assistance also is provided free of charge for one year.
    All 1995-2000 models with less than 65,000 miles are eligible for the
program.  Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128-point inspection
of all mechanical and safety functions, as well as overall appearance
considerations.
