DENSO Earns ISO 14001 Certification at 35 Facilities WorldwideSOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 26 Thirty-five DENSO facilities worldwide have earned ISO 14001 certification thus far. Nine others are currently undergoing the certification process. ISO 14001, a totally voluntary worldwide standard of excellence for environmental management, promotes the establishment and certification of environmental management systems (EMS) that proactively identify and address issues of potential environmental significance. Tony Takeuchi, president of DENSO International America, Inc., DENSO's North American headquarters, said, "By voluntarily adopting ISO 14001, DENSO is making a commitment that it will not only comply with environmental regulations, but that it will also implement a series of measures to lessen its potential impact on the environment." Currently, 14 of the 21 companies in the North American DENSO Group, are certified. Airy, N.C. * Automotive Motors of Thomasville, Inc., Thomasville, N.C. Takeuchi added, "DENSO's participation in the voluntary ISO 14001 process is part of a focused worldwide corporate goal of environmental protection and preservation set by its management in early 1997."
