W.A. Whitney Engages With SDRC in Partnership for Competitive Excellence

    CINCINNATI--April 25, 2000--SDRC (Nasdaq:SDRC)

W.A. Whitney Initiates Partnership With an Initial Order
for I-DEAS Software and Related Services

SDRC (Nasdaq:SDRC), a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced that W.A. Whitney has engaged in a Partnership for Competitive Excellence with SDRC. As part of this agreement, W.A. Whitney is standardizing on SDRC's award-winning I-DEAS(R) software for its product development operations located in Rockford, IL. The initial contract for software and related services is valued at approximately $850K.
W.A. Whitney will use I-DEAS for the complete product design, analysis, and manufacturing of their metal punching and cutting equipment and tooling that support global manufacturers who use plate, sheet metal, and structural shapes. Additionally, SDRC products will be deployed in automating selected processes to further reduce the time it takes to ship products.
"After an extensive evaluation, SDRC was the company that best focused on finding ways to help us become the leader in plate technology," said Joe Mayer, president, W.A. Whitney. "We were looking for a way to bring more innovation into our product development environment, while at the same time protecting our investment in our existing legacy data. SDRC was able to successfully address both of these issues through excellent data migration capabilities and overall collaborative product development functionality."
"W.A. Whitney has a wonderful heritage of success dating to 1907," said Bill Weyand, chairman, president, and CEO, SDRC. "They have a commitment to world-class products and services, and plan to maintain their on-going success through increased innovation and time-to-market initiatives -- critical business drivers that SDRC also considers to be key in maintaining a competitive advantage. We're looking forward to a strong working relationship with W.A. Whitney, and we're extremely pleased that they have chosen to partner with SDRC for competitive excellence."
