Take to the Road With the American Highways Sweepstakes Series; California Wine Country Tour Inaugurates Quarterly Sweepstakes Offering Ultimate Road Trips

    NEW YORK--April 24, 2000--Celebrating a distinctly American endeavor -- the road trip -- CarsDirect.com today kicked off the American Highways Sweepstakes Series: California Wine Country tour.
    The first in an ongoing quarterly series, the sweepstakes will send one lucky winner and a guest on a road trip up the celebrated Pacific Coast Highway -- from Beverly Hills to Napa/Sonoma wine country -- in a Porsche Boxster(R), complete with stays in luxurious accommodations along the way. CarsDirect.com, the leading automotive e-tailer, made the announcement today at the New York Auto Show.
    The prize winner and guest will receive the use of a Porsche Boxster for nine days, courtesy of Budget Beverly Hills, and enjoy a total of eight overnight stays at these premier destinations: the Peninsula Hotel (Beverly Hills), the Santa Barbara Inn (Santa Barbara), Quail Lodge (Carmel), the Archbishop's Mansion (San Francisco) and the Madrona Manor (Healdsburg, Napa/Sonoma).
    In addition, the winner will receive round-trip airfare for two from any major airport in the United States to California for the dream trip.
    To document the journey, the winner will receive a digital camera and digital voice recorder. After the trip, the footage will be edited into a mini-travelogue and posted on the CarsDirect.com site enabling travelers around the world to view the stunning California coastline with a Boxster's eye view.

The contest runs through July 5, and the prizewinner will be announced in August 2000. The contest is open to U.S. licensed drivers, age 25 or older.
    All online entrants will have the opportunity to earn up to 22 entries in the sweepstakes. Entrants receive one entry for submitting registration and another after clicking to the CarsDirect.com "Choose a Vehicle" page. Entrants may also refer their friends via e-mail and will receive two additional entries for each friend who completes registration.
