EMAZING Partners With DEWALT & Lowe's Stores in a 'Power'ful Contest
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--April 24, 2000--EMAZING.com & its Emailed Tips To Shoppers Throughout the Midwest
Louisville-based EMAZING.com, a leading provider of free, emailed content to Internet users, today announced it will be the online partner in the DEWALT "Power Drive" contest, which will be featured in more than 500 Lowe's hardware stores across the country. EMAZING joins its co-NASCAR sponsor, DEWALT Power Tools, in awarding more than $17,000 worth of power tool prizes to one lucky contest winner in June.
Marrying its on-line, email business with an off-line promotion, EMAZING is creatively leveraging the offline retail environment and retail shoppers to capture additional online subscribers and build awareness for its free, email services. All contest entrants who include their email addresses on their entry forms will automatically be signed up to receive daily, free, emailed EMAZING Home Repair Tips from its roster of emailed "how to" offerings. In addition, EMAZING.com will be prominently featured in all in-store contest signage and banners.
"Our participation in the DEWALT Power Drive contest offers the latest example of our ability to partner and tailor promotional involvements to specific merchants by marrying the topic-specific content of our site with their own specialized inventories and audiences," said Joe Pierce, founder and general manager of EMAZING. "With this contest, we are able to target the home repair-focused Lowe's shopper and DEWALT Power Tool user with helpful, free, daily emailed tips on Home Repair."
"This was an ideal way for us to extend our NASCAR relationship. We believe that EMAZING's content is relevant and of interest to our power tool user and a win-win opportunity for both of us," said Russ Stewart, DEWALT Event Marketing Manager. "It only adds value to incorporate EMAZING's home repair tips into a contest that targets the professional and home improvement shopper exclusively."
Running through June 30, 2000, the contest offers Lowe's shoppers the opportunity to enter through forms supplied in the five different entry locations throughout Lowe's stores, including on end caps, cash register and Tool World sections. Registrants then participate in an "iron man" contest that challenges them to demonstrate how many screws they can drive into wooden planks in twelve straight hours with voluntary five-minute breaks every hour. The participant who drives in the most wins. The competition is scheduled to take place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway later this year.
The Grand Prize contest winner will receive a Chevrolet Silverado truck filled with DEWALT tools and accessories. The First Prize winner receives a tip to Lowe's Motor Speedway for a Winston Cup Race. And, the Second Prize winner will receive a DEWALT 24-volt cordless tool system.
"Home Repair" is just one of more than 60 specialized categories of tips emailed by EMAZING.com to consumers free of charge, five days per week. EMAZING Tips provide consumers with a wealth of up-to-the-minute information on themed categories and themed areas of interest ranging from art to woodworking and including household hints, business, computers and the Internet, health, fun, hobbies, money and travel.
