UAW Reaches Tentative Agreement With Lear CorporationDETROIT, April 20 The UAW has reached tentative agreement on a new contract with the Lear Corporation. "The UAW leadership is pleased to announce this tentative agreement on a new contract for our members at the Lear Corporation," UAW President Stephen P. Yokich stated. The tentative agreement covers about 1,500 UAW members at two Lear facilities in Michigan. The UAW members are represented by UAW Local 5960 in Lake Orion and UAW Local 1231 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "I'm confident that our members in Local 1231 and Local 5960 will be pleased with the work of their bargaining team," said UAW Vice President Richard Shoemaker. Shoemaker, who directs the UAW GM Department, led UAW negotiators at Lear. UAW Region 1 Director Ken Terry and UAW Region 1D Director George Andros took part in the negotiations, along with the elected bargaining committees from the two locations. Details of the new agreement are being with held pending membership information meetings that are scheduled for next week.
