    MILWAUKEE, April 20 Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI)
today announced the election of Michael F. Johnston as President, E-Business.
In this newly created position, Johnston will develop e-business strategies
for Johnson Controls businesses which serve the global automotive and
nonresidential buildings markets.

    He will report to the Office of the Chief Executive Officer.

Johnson Controls to establish new growth opportunities while achieving
significant increases in productivity in virtually all of our processes," said
James H. Keyes, Chairman and CEO.  "Mike will work with our business units to
create a unified strategy that leverages our E-business efforts throughout the
company.  He has been a great contributor to the success of Johnson Controls,
and we believe his experience, leadership and energy will enable Johnson
Controls to lead in the E-business arena as well."
    Johnston was most recently President, North America and Asia/Pacific for
the company' s Automotive Systems Group.  Previously, he served as Vice
President and General Manager of the company's automotive interiors business
and battery business.  He joined the company in 1989.
    Johnston holds an MBA from Michigan State University and a BS from Lowell
University.
    Johnson Controls, Inc. is a global market leader in automotive systems and
