SDRC Selects CSC to Transition Sherpa Accounts to Metaphase Software
CINCINNATI--April 20, 2000--SDRC (Nasdaq:SDRC), a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced the selection of Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC) as the preferred global consultant and systems integrator to assist with transitioning its recently-acquired Sherpa Systems Corporation customers to SDRC's Metaphase(R) product data management (PDM) software. The selection of CSC will expand the companies' existing business relationship.SDRC acquired Sherpa(R) in January. Initial transitions will begin in April, with an aggressive two-year target for final completion.
"SDRC selected CSC because of their proven leadership in information technology," said Bill Carrelli, vice president of corporate marketing, SDRC. "With over 40 years of experience -- including a keen working knowledge of Sherpa products -- they have clearly demonstrated expertise in management consulting, information systems consulting and integration, and outsourcing. SDRC is committed to providing a technology growth path for its Sherpa customers, and we believe CSC's ability to execute at the development task level is essential in deploying a successful transition model."
The global transition of SDRC's newly-acquired Fortune 2000 clients from the Sherpa platform to Metaphase requires strong project management and experience with large data moves.
"CSC has the demonstrated leadership and expertise necessary to achieve success with such a transition, particularly in the areas of PDM and collaborative product commerce (CPC), knowledge management, and data center capability," Carrelli added.
"CSC is excited to team with SDRC to establish a comprehensive delivery mechanism for transitioning their Sherpa customers to Metaphase," said Brad Scheller, director of supply chain solutions for CSC's Consulting Group. "SDRC is offering a powerful value proposition to the Sherpa user base by providing a clear and well-thought-out path to an industry leading product data management capability."
CSC joined SDRC's Metaphase Enterprise Solution Provider (e!sp(R)) program in July 1999, deploying individual and tailored business solutions for companies worldwide and leveraging Metaphase Enterprise PDM solutions.
