Simpson Industries Projected to Win Both the Contested Proxy ProposalsPLYMOUTH, Mich., April 19 Simpson Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPS) today announced that the preliminary results received from their proxy solicitor indicated that a comfortable majority of shareholders who voted have supported the management on both the contested proxy proposals. Preliminary tabulation indicates that: * Management nominees appear to have been re-elected by a 3 to 2 margin. * Over 54% of the shares voted to support Simpson management's strategic plan and to reject the MMI platform. Simpson Industries also reported that more than 80% of the eligible votes were cast, which indicates substantial shareholder participation. The final vote count is expected to be reported on May 2, 2000.
