20 April 2000

BOLDER Technologies Reports That Target Stores Will Offer SecureStart(TM) Portable Jump Starter
GOLDEN, Colo., April 19 BOLDER Technologies Corporation
(Nasdaq: BOLD) announced that it has shipped an initial order of its
SecureStart(TM) Portable Jump Starter product to Target stores this month and
that the product will begin to appear in a majority of their 900 stores in
late April, according to Roger F. Warren, chairman, president and CEO.
Warren commented, "We are very pleased to add a leading mass merchandiser
like Target stores to the list of retail stores that now offer our SecureStart
product. This is a huge step towards our goal of making SecureStart available
to the majority of North American consumers by this fall."
"The SecureStart Portable Jump Starter product is now available in
approximately 4,100 outlets in North America, including Sears Mall, Sears
Dealer and Sears Hardware stores, G.I. Joe Auto and Sporting Goods, The Tool
Stores in Michigan and Home Hardware, the largest hardware chain in Canada.
We fully expect to continue to build our retail distribution base for
SecureStart in mass merchandiser, auto after market and other channels as the
year progresses," Warren concluded.
SecureStart Portable Jump Starter is a small, lightweight, rechargeable
device that can provide an instant engine start on a dead battery in a car,
truck, tractor or boat. The SecureStart features a built-in flashlight and
cable clamps for jump starting, weighs less than five pounds, can be easily
stored in any vehicle and recharges in minutes.
BOLDER Technologies Corporation, headquartered in Golden, CO, manufactures
and markets advanced, high-power rechargeable batteries based on its patented
Thin Metal Film (TMF(R)) technology. The Company is developing and
commercializing consumer and OEM battery products with the TMF technology,
including the SecureStart(TM) Portable Jump Starter that uses proven lead-acid
electrochemistry in a proprietary configuration with a higher power density
than any commercially available rechargeable battery. The TMF technology
offers numerous advantages over existing batteries for current and future
applications, including primary engine-starting functions for the sizable
marine and auto battery after markets. BOLDER's TMF technology also has
possible future applications in the pending auto industry conversion from
12V to 36V systems, both directly and indirectly through its license agreement
with Johnson Controls. BOLDER's website is http://www.boldertech.com .
