Delphi Joint Venture Wins Business from Shanghai GM

    FLINT, Mich., April 19 Shanghai Delphi Emission Control
Systems Co. Ltd., a new joint venture between Delphi Automotive Systems
(NYSE: DPH) and Shanghai GuoZhong Industrial Co. Ltd., has won catalytic
converter business with Shanghai General Motors, according to Guy C. Hachey,
president of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems.
    Delphi's joint venture agreement with Shanghai GuoZhong Industrial makes
it the only supplier of a complete catalytic converter system in the People's
Republic of China.
    Shanghai Delphi Emission Control Systems, located in Shanghai, produces
and sells a complete converter system, including the catalyst.  Major
customers are Shanghai GM, ChangAn Automotive and several minivan
manufacturers, including Changhe Suzuki Automobile, Shanxi Hanjiang Automotive
and Harbin Aircraft.
    The venture complements Delphi Energy & Chassis' joint venture in Beijing,
which was announced in November, according to Marcus Chao, president of Delphi
China.
    Catalytic converters capture pollutants, such as carbon monoxide,
hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen, from engine exhaust streams and convert
them into carbon dioxide.  Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems is the worldwide
