Tracks: tickets.com and 'The Tribune' team up to give away Mustang pace car

19 April 2000

Irwindale, Calif. - - On the night of November 23, one of thirty-six fans is
going to be driving home in the Advantage Ford Mustang Pace Car! Tickets.com
(Irwindale Speedway's official on line ticket source) and the San Gabriel Valley
Tribune (the official newspaper of the Speedway) have teamed up with Advantage
Ford - Lincoln Mercury to give away the track Official Pace Car at the end of
the 2000 season.

"It'll be a very low-mileage, well-equipped, very photographed, very well know
'used car' at season's end, quite a nice prize for the fan who holds the lucky
key," said track Vice President Bob DeFazio.

Fans may register to win the Mustang by logging on to Tickets.com, by filling
out an entry blank found in the Tribune, or by stopping by the new Advantage
Ford display area at the track. "A fan's name will be selected each week for
ride in the Pace Car and each of those fans, all thirty-six of them, will be
invited back on November 23, the final race of the season," DeFazio explained.
Each person will draw a key out of a helmet and try it in the Mustang … Only
one of those keys will work … It's really going to be an exciting moment!" For
the record, entrants will need to be a California licensed driver, and eighteen
years or older.

Valued at over $32,000, this GT model convertible is equipped with a 4.6-liter
V-8 motor, 5-speed transmission, 17" custom chrome alloy wheels, 4-wheel anti-lock
disc brakes, leather interior, traction control, a special Eibach lowered suspension,
custom light bars, and a full "ground effects" package. In addition to all that,
the fan who wins this special Pace Car also wins a real piece of racing history
because it will be the actual car used at the track for the 2000, not one of
a limited number of "replica" vehicles.

The speedway is a short drive (especially if you happen to be driving a hot Mustang
GT convertible from Advantage Ford!) from just about anywhere in southern California.
