ARA Services Corporation Partners With CarStation.Com For New Online Recycled Parts Locator

    FAIRFAX, Va.--April 18, 2000--

CarStation E-Commerce Solutions To Generate
Increased Revenue, Exposure For Recyclers

ARA Services Corporation (www.araccelerator.com), a for-profit subsidiary of the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA), and CarStation.com (www.carstation.com) today announced a strategic alliance in which they will develop and market end-to-end products that will allow automotive recyclers, repair shops and insurers to locate, buy and sell recycled auto parts via the Internet.
"We chose to partner with CarStation because we firmly believe that they are the automotive repair industry's leading e-commerce provider and because they share our vision to make the industry more efficient through technology," ARA Services Chief Executive Officer Guy Caron said. "Together, we plan to deploy a series of products that combine the ARAccelerator database with CarStation's e-commerce hub, allowing us to generate substantial revenue for professional auto recyclers and to create the most comprehensive e-commerce solutions for the automotive recycled parts industry," Caron said.
Available in May, the alliance's first product will be an online recycler-to-recycler parts locator, ARAccelerator PARTSonline (TM) (www.arapol.com), which will provide access to a database of more than 40 million parts from more than 1,000 auto recyclers.
ARAccelerator PARTSonline will enable auto recyclers to locate parts across all three major inventory management systems: ADP's Hollander(R), CCI Triad's Checkmate(R) and URG's Pinnacle(TM). Professional automotive recyclers also will be able to search for parts by code and interchange number as well as organize data according to customizable trading groups and geographic availability. In addition, participants in the ARAccelerator database will be able to manage the visibility of their pricing and inventory data.
"This alliance is significant for the entire industry because it will increase the ability of all buyers to purchase quality recycled parts online," ARA President Ginny Whelan said.
ARA Services Corporation is dedicated to the development, management and marketing of the ARAccelerator database, an online inventory of parts from professional automotive recycling facilities in the United States and Canada.
CarStation will also power products for repair shops, insurers and consumers that will utilize the ARAccelerator database to facilitate parts ordering from automotive recyclers.
"We're thrilled about teaming up with ARA Services Corporation to connect buyers and sellers of tens of millions of recycled parts online," CarStation CEO and Chairman Dr. Ron Goldsberry said. "We think this partnership will deliver tremendous value to our customers because ARA Services' commitment to customer service and technology is as strong as our own."
