VANCOUVER, B.C.--April 18, 2000--TIR Systems Ltd.(CDNX:TIY.), the world leader in The Light Pipe(TM) technology and products, is pleased to announce the signing of a worldwide OEM agreement with Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting.A strong market response to TIR's linear lighting systems with digital color change capability has spurred TIR to seek out the world leader in digital color changing lighting technology. TIR will integrate Color Kinetics' patented Chromacore(TM) technology with TIR's Light Pipe and LED Color Changing systems to offer a complete linear lighting solution for the Architectural and Transportation markets
Chromacore is Color Kinetics' patented technology that generates over 16.7 million colors and a variety of colored lighting effects via microprocessor-controlled red, green and blue LEDs. In contrast to conventional lighting techniques, which require gels, dimmers and moving parts to produce color and colored lighting effects, Chromacore generates colored light by using a microprocessor and additive color mixing. In addition, Chromacore technology offers an ultra-long source life of 100,000 hours. It uses little power, produces virtually no heat or UV emissions, and creates dynamic changing color without moving parts, all of which significantly extends the range of environments in which colored lighting effects can be used.
The combination of TIR's Light Pipe with Color Kinetics' Chromacore technology effectively addresses the age old dilemma faced by today's architects and lighting designers, creating a "new look" while keeping maintenance and energy costs in check. TIR's LED Color Changing system, powered by Chromacore, offers the ease of maintenance characteristic of The Light Pipe and LEDs without having to sacrifice any quality of illumination. Chromacore technology produces brilliant full spectrum digital color which is distributed with superior uniformity by The Light Pipe making these two technologies into one outstanding color change lighting solution.

The Light Pipe is TIR's core technology for linear light distribution. The Light Pipe consists of a hollow prismatic light guide and an accessible remote point luminaire. Single point source luminaires beam light into hollow linear light guides to produce lines of unparalleled uniform white or colored light. The luminaire, with associated wiring and maintenance, is separate from the light emitting surface which translates into significant maintenance advantages compared to other linear options and the ability to isolate electrical components from the lit environment. The Light Pipe offers easy maintenance, high quality illumination, long life and excellent all weather performance.
