Unigraphics Solutions Receives $850,000 Contract from Hummer Manufacturer AM General Corporation
ST. LOUIS, April 18 Unigraphics Solutions Inc. (NYSE: UGS)
today announces that AM General Corporation, manufacturer of the popular
Hummer and Humvee all terrain vehicles, has signed a software and services
contract in excess of $850,000. The contract includes several licenses of
iMAN, UGS' enterprise-wide product data management (PDM) software,
Unigraphics, the industry's leading high-end CAD/CAM/CAE application and
Product Vision, the Internet-enabled solution for product visualization. In
addition, UGS will provide extensive training and implementation services.
AM General selected UGS products over several competitive offerings, after
an in-depth evaluation that involved a vendor comparison as well as a
functional assessment of the software. The company found that no other
software was able to provide a better match with its product development and
data management requirements than Unigraphics and iMAN. In addition UGS'
strategy for the future proved to be in-line with AM General's goals and
objectives. Finally, AM General recognized that it would benefit from the
seamless integration that UGS software provides with General Motors
Corporation. The two automakers recently established a partnership that will
allow GM to market and distribute AM General's Hummer brand vehicles.
