Subaru of America, Inc. Names Mike Whelan As Senior Product Public Relations ManagerCHERRY HILL, N.J., April 17 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), a pioneer of crossover all-wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, today announced the appointment of Mike Whelan to the position of senior product public relations manager. Whelan replaces Alex Fedorak, who left the company in March to join A&M Specialists. Whelan will oversee all public relations activities associated with Subaru products including working with the automotive and enthusiast media, development of product and technical information, management of the Subaru press fleet as well as long and short lead media introductions. Whelan began his career with SOA in 1982 as a public relations assistant working with the press to promote the Subaru partnership with the U.S. Ski Team. During his tenure, Whelan held several other positions including district sales manager and regional sales training manager at Subaru Atlantic, now the Subaru Southeast Region, located in Maryland. After serving as product planning manager for SOA from 1994 through 1998, Whelan coordinated regional market development for the Penn-Jersey Region of Subaru, overseeing dealer franchising, dealer development and implementation of the Subaru Signature Facility program. Prior to his joining SOA, Whelan served as a salesperson at a variety of imported car dealerships representing distinguished marques such as Jaguar, Porsche, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Maserati. Whelan is a graduate of St. Joseph's University with a BS in Management/Marketing, and resides with his wife Liza and daughters Jane and Virginia in Paoli, Pa. About Subaru of America, Inc.
