Code-Alarm Expands Relationship with Kia MotorsBegins Supplying Keyless-Entry Packages for Sephia and Spectra platforms MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., April 17 Code-Alarm, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CODL) announced today that it is expanding its relationship with Kia Motors America to supply products for each of the Korean manufacturer's U.S. vehicle platforms. The Madison Heights, Mich. manufacturer of vehicle security, remote keyless-entry and remote car starters will begin shipping remote keyless-entry packages in May for the Kia Sephia sedan and the Spectra, a new limited- edition hatchback version. The option packages, which can be easily upgraded with an available security system, can be installed at any of Kia's five North American ports or by any of its approximately 575-plus U.S. dealers. "We are pleased that Kia Motors has given Code-Alarm such a wonderful vote of confidence," said Peter Stouffer, Chief Operating Officer and President of Code-Alarm. "We have enjoyed a successful partnership with Kia since we began working with the automaker eight months ago, and look forward to developing that relationship over the years to come." Code-Alarm began supplying a remote keyless-entry system for the Kia Sportage sport utility vehicle in July 1999, earning "Most Valued Partner" status as a top supplier to the automaker. That same package will now be available on certain trim levels of the Sephia and all levels of the Spectra and will feature: * Dual remote transmitters that automatically lock and unlock a vehicle's doors, simultaneously arming and disarming a security system. * Illuminated entry for safety and convenience. * A remote panic alarm that can be activated to sound an alarm and flash the lights should the driver notice anyone trying to tamper with the vehicle. * An optional interior theft sensor, IT-s, to provide glass-breakage and full-content protection. Lloyd Law, Manager of Fixed Operations Marketing and Training for Kia, said the automaker tapped Code-Alarm to supply technology for its sedans because it was pleased with how the Company handled its contract for the Sportage. "Code-Alarm is a great company and we have been extremely happy with the relationship we have established with them," Law said. "They supply a great product. The installation is painless and their product support has been great." Michael Schroeder, Vice President of Marketing and New Business Development for Code-Alarm, said that the Company has been aggressively trying to grow the OEM side of its sales. "Kia's choice of Code-Alarm to introduce these option packages to its customers demonstrates our expertise in developing the technology that talks to cars and trucks," Schroeder said. "We are continuing our strong relationship with Kia, supporting not only new vehicle platforms but also marketing efforts to assist in the release of new products and platforms."
