Superior Industries Begins Shipping Aluminum Wheels to DaimlerChrysler Corporation

VAN NUYS, Calif.--April 17, 2000--Superior Industries International, Inc. (NYSE:SUP) announced today that it has begun shipping aluminum road wheels to DaimlerChrysler Corporation for the 2000 model year Dodge Caravan under a contract announced in January.
"Initial shipment of these aluminum wheels is another important milestone in our renewed relationship with DaimlerChrysler. Pre-production work on this project went smoothly. Our engineering staff now is working closely with DaimlerChrysler's world-class engineering and product teams on additional wheel projects for Chrysler and Dodge nameplates. We are off to an excellent start in our all-out effort to earn additional business from this important customer in the years ahead," a Superior spokesman said.
The spokesman added, "The outlook for Superior is excellent. We expect another year of record performance in 2000, the continuation of a long-term growth trend driven by Superior's hard earned reputation for quality and reliability. With its many performance and appearance advantages, aluminum is the material of the future in automotive applications. We have won more than $350 million in new aluminum wheel orders in just the past twelve months, and we also are optimistic about the growth prospects for our new aluminum suspension and related components business. We are winning new customers and gaining share of our target markets, and are aggressively expanding capacity to meet this rising demand."
