Josh Brolin Takes Pole Position for the 24th Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race; Winner Receives ``PEOPLE Pole Award'' and $10,000 for Charity

    LONG BEACH, Calif.--April 14, 2000--Josh Brolin turned the fastest lap (1:48:06) in today's qualifying session at the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race to take the pole position for the 24th running of the fan-favorite event on Saturday, April 15. The top-professional driver was Derek Daly, with a lap time of 1:46:90.
    In addition to winning the coveted inside front-row position for the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, Brolin also was awarded the annual "PEOPLE Pole Award." Sponsored by PEOPLE Magazine, the award honors the top-celebrity qualifier for the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race with a $10,000 donation from PEOPLE to the pole sitter's charity of choice. Brolin designated Racing for Kids, a charitable organization that raises funds for children's hospitals, to benefit from his Pole Award.
    Other Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race participants include George Lucas, Ashley Judd, John Elway, Melissa Joan Hart, Alyson Hannigan, Joshua Morrow, Shaun Palmer, Dallas Raines and Robin Yount.
    The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 with a field of 17 drivers. The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race will air on ESPN on April 30 at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
