INTERMET Promotes Skrzypczak to Corporate Treasurer
    TROY, Mich., April 13 INTERMET Corporation (Nasdaq: INMT),
one of the world's leading independent manufacturers of cast-metal automotive
components, announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Michael
S. Skrzypczak, 43, to the position of Corporate Treasurer, effective
immediately.  In addition to his duties as Treasurer, Skrzypczak will continue
to be responsible for the company's risk management activities.
    "Mike has extensive financial markets expertise," said John Doddridge,
Chairman and CEO.  "His talents will continue to help INTERMET achieve
increased shareholder value within a disciplined fiscal environment."
    Prior to this appointment Skrzypczak was Assistant Treasurer for INTERMET.
He joined the company in 1995 as Director of Treasury Services.  Before
joining INTERMET he was with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he
served as a national bank examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency.  Prior
to this he held treasury and financial positions at Inacomp Computer Centers,
Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo Bank.
    Skrzypczak received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the
University of Michigan and a master of science degree in finance from Walsh
College.
