Federal-Mogul Earns Excellence Award from Rubber Manufacturers Association
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 13 Federal-Mogul's Skokie,
Illinois, gasket facility has earned the Rubber Manufacturers Association
(RMA) 1999 Safety and Health Improvement Program Excellence Award. The
Excellence Award is based upon the ability of a plant to record an incidence
rate for "Lost Workday Cases" which is 75 percent better than the overall
average achieved by all plants providing data to RMA.
"We're extremely proud that our Skokie plant was the one automotive
systems plant whose lost work day incidence rate was better than the average
for RMA member plants," stated Roger Strelow, general counsel and director,
environment, health and safety. "This accomplishment illustrates the strong
commitment Skokie has to safety and the plant's safety leadership role in our
company."
Over 75 companies and 200 facilities were participants in RMA's 2000
Safety and Health Improvement Program. RMA President and Chief Executive
Officer Donald Shea presented the award during RMA's annual meeting on
February 27, 2000.
"We have over 100 people who are involved in our safety program, and
recognition from an industrial group that recognizes the importance of a safe
workplace, says that you are at the top and you should be proud of your
success," said Bill VanHorne, business unit leader, EHSMS coordinator, Skokie.
"Congratulations to all the hard working volunteers that make safety an
important part of their team members' lives at work."
Skokie was a recipient of the 1999 Health and Safety Bronze Award given in
January at Federal-Mogul's annual Leadership Conference.
