Environmental Policy Expert Allen Schaeffer Joins Rowan & Blewitt IncorporatedHERNDON, Va., April 13 Rowan & Blewitt Incorporated has announced that Allen Schaeffer has joined the firm as a vice president. Schaeffer served most recently as Vice President of Environmental Affairs for the American Trucking Associations (ATA). An expert on environmental and transportation policy, Schaeffer represented ATA on a wide variety of environmental issues before federal, state, and regional governments, elected officials, regulatory bodies, and in numerous press interviews and media appearances. Schaeffer was the principal architect and spokesperson for the "On the Road to Clean Air" campaign, a joint effort by ATA and the Engine Manufacturers Association to reach out to the trucking industry and key decision makers about the role of diesel engines in air quality and the steps truckers can take to reduce pollution. Schaeffer played a key role in securing major trucking industry victories in the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments and was a principal architect of the ATA's landmark 1999 court victory overturning new federal clean air standards for ozone and fine particles. Schaeffer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Health Sciences degree from Johns Hopkins.
