Roadway Express Elects New General Counsel: Declares Dividend
AKRON, Ohio--April 13, 2000--The Board of Directors of Roadway Express, Inc. (Nasdaq:ROAD), today elected John J. Gasparovic, 42, Vice President and General Counsel, effective May 1, 2000. John M. Glenn, who has served as Roadway's General Counsel since 1987, will continue in his capacity as Corporate Secretary and as of-counsel for the motor carrier.Gasparovic most recently served as Vice President Business Development and General Counsel for Guardian Automotive of Auburn Hills, Michigan. Prior to that, Gasparovic served as Assistant General Counsel of Guardian Industries Corp., the parent of Guardian Automotive. He began his career as an Associate in the Litigation Group of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue in Cleveland, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois. Gasparovic received his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois and his Bachelor of Arts Degree, with High Distinction, from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
In another action, the Board declared a cash dividend of $0.05 per share on the Company's common stock. The dividend is payable on June 1, 2000 to shareholders of record on May 12, 2000.
