A. Schulman Inc. Adds Two New Directors to Its Board

    AKRON, Ohio--April 12, 2000--A. Schulman Inc. today announced that its Board of Directors has elected two new members, increasing the size of the Board to 11 people.
    The new board members are:

    -- Joseph M. Gingo, Senior Vice President for Technology and
    Global Products Planning for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber
    Company.

    -- John B. Yasinsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
    OMNOVA Solutions Inc., formerly a GenCorp Inc. operating
    segment.

    Gingo was elected to a 1-1/2-year term, expiring in December 2001, while Yasinsky's term is for 2-1/2 years, expiring in December 2002.
    "We are pleased to be able to add two directors who have extensive international and polymer experience. We anticipate that their experience and knowledge will benefit A. Schulman in the years ahead," according to Chairman Robert A. Stefanko, and President and Chief Executive Officer Terry L. Haines.
    Gingo became Goodyear's senior vice president for technology and global products planning last summer. Before that, he was vice president and general manager of Goodyear's Engineered Products business unit, and vice president of the company's Asia operations. Gingo joined Goodyear's Research and Development Division in 1966. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University) and a law degree from the University of Akron.
    Yasinsky has been chairman and CEO of OMNOVA Solutions, formerly an operating segment of GenCorp, since September 30, 1999. Before that, at GenCorp, he was the chairman, president and chief executive officer, and the president and chief operating officer. He joined GenCorp in 1993, after spending most of his previous 30 years in a variety of capacities with Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Yasinsky holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Wheeling Jesuit College, a master's degree in physics from the University of Pittsburgh, and a doctorate in nuclear science from Carnegie Mellon University.
