MILLER LITE AND IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCE: THE "MILLER LITE" BIG 10 CHALLENGE $5000 GUARANTEED TO SERIES CHAMP AT END OF SEASON Irwindale, Calif. - - Miller Lite, the official beer of Irwindale Speedway, has announced that it will sponsor a special "series within a series" to be entitled "The Miller Lite Big 10 Challenge at Irwindale Speedway". The championship will be contested among the Speedway's super-popular NASCAR Super Late Models. The first of the ten high profile races will be run on Saturday, May 6, with events following on May 27, June 10, July 8, July 22, August 5, August 26, September 2, September 9, and September 30. A separate points tally will be kept for those races with the highest-finishing Super Late Model driver being awarded a check for $5000 from Miller Lite at season's end. "Our NASCAR Super Late Model division is one of the most competitive in the country, we had 47 cars here on opening night three weeks ago, all going for 30 starting slots in the main," said track VP of Marketing Pat Patterson. "Miller Lite brings something extra to the table, there's the prestige of winning an important championship, plus the points winner's guarantee of $5000 in additional prize money. Those kind of dollars can really help a weekend driver and crew out a lot, especially at season's end." "We're very pleased with our association with Irwindale Speedway," said Marketing Manager Brian Mequet, "We've been there since the beginning with the Speedway, our Irwindale plant is just up the road and across the freeway, and we've derived great value and recognition from our close relationship with the Speedway, this is going to be a great series of races, we're very excited to be able to put the Miller Lite name on it, and are looking forward to the races!"
