Meritor Automotive Elects Cummins Corporate Officer

    TROY, Mich., April 12 Meritor Automotive, Inc.
, today announced that its board of directors has elected Linda M.
Cummins, senior vice president, Communications, reporting directly to Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer, Larry D. Yost.
    "Lin Cummins has extensive global communications, advanced marketing and
international public relations expertise.  Her results-driven strategies are
strengthening Meritor's reputation as the partner of choice in providing
integrated systems, technology solutions and services," Yost said.
    In this role, Cummins directs the global communications efforts for
Meritor and has overall responsibility for the corporation's communications
policy and strategy, investor relations, public relations, executive and
employee communications, advertising, product brand strategy, advanced
marketing communications, community relations, corporate communications and
identity programs.
    Cummins joined Meritor in 1999, from United Technologies Automotive where
she was vice president of Advanced Marketing and Worldwide Communications.
Prior to that she was with Ford Motor Company, where she was director of the
Broadcast News Department in its global news organization, after having served
as public affairs manager of Ford International Operations, Ford Financial
Services Group and Ford Tractor International Operations.
    Cummins holds a bachelor of science degree and a master of arts degree in
speech and communications from Wayne State University in Detroit.
    Meritor, with 1999 sales of $4.5 billion, is a global supplier of a broad
range of components and systems for commercial, specialty and light vehicle
OEMs and the aftermarket.  Meritor consists of two businesses: Light Vehicle
Systems, a major supplier of roof, door, automotive body, access control and
suspension systems and wheel products for passenger cars, light trucks and
sport utility vehicles, and Heavy Vehicle Systems, a leading supplier of
complete drivetrain systems and components for medium-and heavy-duty trucks,
trailers and off-highway equipment and specialty vehicles, including military,
bus and coach, and fire and rescue.
