Ducati Motor Holding Announces 14th Consecutive Quarter Record Revenue Growth - Reports 47% First Quarter Topline Growth -

    BOLOGNA, Italy, April 12 Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.
, a leading manufacturer of high
performance motorcycles, today announced record consolidated revenues for the
first quarter ended March 31, 2000.
    For the first quarter, total revenues increased 47.3% to Lit. 198.6
billion (US$98.0 million) from Lit. 134.8 billion (US$66.5 million) during the
same period in the previous year. Revenues from Ducati motorcycles during the
recent three-month period increase 37.5% to Lit. 165.2 billion over the first
quarter of last year and represented 83.2% of revenues. Three month revenues
of motorcycle-related products, including spare parts, technical accessories
and apparel, rose 85.1% to Lit. 23.5 billion over the comparable period in the
previous year with performance accessories and apparel posting a 170.1%
improvement.
    While official three-month world registration data, the true measure of
retail sales, are not yet available, the Company's best estimates suggest that
registrations increased 34% during the first quarter compared to the same
period a year ago, with particular strength in North America, France, Italy
and Japan.
    "This is a great start as we head into the heart of this year's selling
season. This quarter's results illustrate the continued success of our
commercial strategy," said Carlo Di Biagio, Ducati Chief Financial Officer.
"We were also lucky that the weather played in our favor during the first
quarter, especially in Italy and the rest of Southern Europe."
    Ducati Motor Holding will provide a detailed breakdown of sales in
conjunction with its release of first quarter 2000 earnings in mid-May.
