AISI Receives Standard of Excellence Award for Web Site Showcasing Center for Creative Studies Internship Program
     Web site chronicles CCS Transportation Design Project students' work

    DETROIT, April 11 American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI)
has received a Standard of Excellence award from the Web Marketing Association
for its work in creating http://ccs.autosteel.org .
    ccs.autosteel.org showcases the work of three Center for Creative Studies
(CCS) transportation design students who spent their summer internship each
designing a concept vehicle using the latest developments in steel technology.
The 1999 internship program is in its 11th year under AISI sponsorship.
    Features of the web site include:

    * Project description containing background, design goals and project
       scope;
    *  Student biographies, which discuss individual concept objectives;
    * Final sketches, in high-resolution format; and
    * Electronic articles, chronicling the progress of the students' work.

    "We're pleased to accept this award. We are especially proud of the
opportunity that the web site provided to recognize these students on their
outstanding achievements," said Darryl Martin, senior director, Automotive
Applications, AISI. "1999 was the first year we used online technology to
display the evolution of the students' designs and it was worth it.
Channeling innovative design ideas to the automotive design community through
the Internet is a plus for the North American steel industry."

design. The Standard of Excellence award recognizes the achievements of web

    PR Associates, Inc., Detroit, Mich., and ICON Multi-Media, Holland, Mich.,
assisted AISI staff in the designing, content and management of the site.
    The American Iron and Steel Institute is a non-profit association of North
American companies engaged in the iron and steel industry. The Institute
comprises 46 member companies, including integrated and electric furnace
steelmakers, and 175 associate and affiliate members who are suppliers to or

    Automotive Applications Committee (AAC) is a subcommittee of the Market
Development Committee of AISI and focuses on advancing the use of steel in the
